Kevin Schindler, CPA, CA

With over 20 years of accounting experience, Kevin Schindler is the Principal and President of KCS Inc. Chartered Professional Accountants, having previously risen to the position of Tax Partner with KPMG. His White Rock, BC practice specializes in taxation matters for individuals and small to medium-sized businesses, including tax return preparation, tax and estate planning, compliance, and CRA audit dispute resolution.Kevin offers depth of experience, personalized service, and a simple, efficient structure for his practice that clients appreciate. Diane Wu, BComm (Hons), CPA

Diane has over seven years of experience working as an accountant and has worked for KSC Inc. since October of 2014. Diane focusses on helping corporations and individuals prepare their financial statements and tax returns. She responds promptly, thoroughly and logically to queries, is adept at interpreting the ever-changing Income Tax Act, and liaises effectively with Canada Revenue Agency to address the wide-ranging tax matters that arise for her clients.Diane enjoys the challenges of her position, such as the essential continual learning, the technical aspects of financial statements and tax work, and the need for detail, accuracy, and superior organizational skills. In addition, Diane is not only able to communicate with her clients and others in English, she is also adept at spoken and written Cantonese and Mandarin.

Catherine Mastrella

Catherine has numerous responsibilities at KCS Inc., executing the reception, office administration, and bookkeeping functions for the organization. Adept at various software programs, including Sage 50, QuickBooks and CaseWare, Catherine manages client billings and the administrative aspects of the tax return process for clients. She also has internal responsibilities, such as accounts payable, payroll, and the production of reports.

Catherine enjoys interacting with clients in a professional and personable manner. She is highly valued for being proactive, organized, and efficient in the conduct of her various roles.

Ellie Thomas, CPA, CGA, MBA, MScIB

Ellie Thomas is a senior manager in accounting and assurance with Morine & Schindler in Nanaimo. Prior to joining Morine & Schindler, Ellie delivered accounting and assurance services to the First Nations, Not for Profit Organizations and Private Enterprises with the other public practice firms. She also delivered business consulting services to the small business clients, such as strategic planning, financial management and accounting technology training. 

Ellie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Metalogical Engineering and worked as a semiconductor engineer in South Korea. She also received her MBA from Vancouver Island University that allowed her to fine tune her business knowledges with engineering experiences. 

Ellie was designated a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) in 2015. She is actively involved in the immigrant community as a volunteer with Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society.

George Morine, BA, CPA-CA, CPA-WA, CAFM

George delivers a comprehensive suite of services and strategic business advice to help his clients achieve their goals.  

George has more than 30 years of experience in auditing and consulting with public sector entities. He has many clients that file Public Sector Accounting Board and Not-For-Profit Organization framework financial statements and is well versed in both U.S. and Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and U.S. and Canadian Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.

George’s clients include First Nations, not-for-profit organizations and owner-managed businesses. George gets to know clients, working on projects in the field rather than in the office. He has often traveled to remote Indigenous communities, helping First Nations identify challenges and opportunities then implement solutions.

Jaspreet Saini

Jaspreet obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant from India. She has over two years of experience working as an accountant in India and is been working for KSC Inc. since January 2020.

She has an experience in the field of Statutory audits in compliance with Accounting Standards, Internal Audits, tax planning of corporates and individuals in India. Now focuses on preparing Financial Statements , Tax returns and tax planning of business owners and individuals. 

Professionally, she enjoys the challenges of identifying and solving problems with a passion to increase her professional credentials. She’s now pursuing CPA.

She connects with clients and others not only in English but in Punjabi and Hindi as well.

Pooja Bhatia, CPA, CGA

Position: Staff Accountant

Educational Background: Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Arts, CPA, CGA

Pooja has been working with KCS Inc. since January 2019.  In early 2020 she graduated from the CGA program, as an honor list student, becoming a CPA.  She has previous experience working in public practice as well as for the Canada Revenue Agency.

Pooja can also interact with clients in English, Hindi and Punjabi.  

“I love my job as it is always evolving and there is so much to learn. I aspire to enhance my experience in technical aspects of tax and financial accounting. I have a passion to help clients by promptly responding to their queries and identifying planning opportunities for them.  I feel a sense of accomplishment when I am up against a deadline and work under pressure to achieve it.
